Questions
- Why not just look it up online?
- Because you need the article mid-sentence, not after three taps and a page load. DerDieDas answers while you type, from a database that already lives on your phone — no signal required.
- Do I need Apple Intelligence?
- Only for the generated example sentences. The article, the declension, the definitions and the IPA all come from the bundled database and work on any iPhone or iPad that runs iOS 26. Where Apple Intelligence isn't available, the sentence panel simply doesn't appear.
- Does it work offline?
- The dictionary does, completely. The one exception is the spoken audio clip, which streams from Wikimedia Commons and needs a connection. Generated example sentences work offline too — they fall back to the on-device model.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. No price, no subscription, no in-app purchases, no ads.
